IPC is looking for a Network and Equipment Pool Planning and Engineering Specialist

Job description

The planning and engineering specialist role will perform a range of tasks with the objective to ensure a robust and seamless operation of the equipment pools and transport network services provided by IPC to the participating posts. In the Equipment Pools this involves the daily monitoring of stock of empty equipment at different sites and to plan the transports of empty equipment for repatriation. In CRONOS this involves the active monitoring of the performance of the transport and hub suppliers and production of performance reports and identification of logistical re-engineering options or proposing logistical improvement measures. The role involves incident handling, addressing of operational challenges in close coordination and communication with suppliers and participating posts. The planning engineering specialist will work closely with the supplier of the CRONOS transport management system (TMS) to successfully deploy all TMS functions and ensure its usage by all stakeholders. 

Job Specifications

  • Scheduled repatriation transports and stock at required levels at all sites
  • Reports from equipment pools application and analysis of results
  • Log and process exceptional event reports and incident handling for Equipment Pools and CRONOS
  • Create reports based on IPC reporting applications for CRONOS and analysis of results
  • Identification of improvement options and suggested re-engineering of the network based on proposed corrective action
  • Reach the full potential out of the Transport Management System usage 
  • Managing day-to-day relationship with members/non-members participants
  • Managing relationship with internal IPC stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Management of day-to-day activities
  • Identification of service enhancement opportunities based on analysis and data processing

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven knowledge of Transport Management System and other logistics software functions is an advantage
  • Minimum secondary and professional education; ideally Master Degree and appropriate professional qualifications
  • Minimum three years logistics/transport environment
  • Mail industry and/or cargo/freight industry experience would be an advantage 
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Critical thinking
  • Willing to learn by doing 
  • Good spoken/ written English
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software applications
  • Pro-active, flexible and perseverant
