"We have been involved in Lesotho for seven years now, and it's a great pleasure to see Deutsche Post DHL Group's environmental engagement once again receiving international recognition - this time with one of the world's most important environmental awards, the National Energy Globe Award," said Birgit Hensel, Vice President Shared Value at Deutsche Post DHL Group. "As the world's leading logistics company we are keenly aware of our social responsibility. With our Group-wide environmental protection program GoGreen and our Mission 2050, we have set an ambitious goal: to reduce all logistics-related emissions to zero by the year 2050."
The Group's local partner in the Save80 project, SolarLights, shared in the pride. "We put a lot of heart into our work here in Lesotho - distributing and maintaining the Save80 stove sets, and encouraging their use," said Michael Hönes, Project Lead at SolarLights. "It never fails to amaze me that a single Save80 stove set can save over two tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, and reduce firewood consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%. The initiative really does have a direct and sustainable, positive impact on both the climate and the lives of those living in Lesotho."
The "Save80 Stoves for Lesotho" project is one of many climate protection projects that allow Deutsche Post DHL Group to offset logistics-related greenhouse gas emissions for customers who purchase its climate-neutral products and services.
