Professor Richard Barker

Richard Barker was appointed as a full-time member of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in June 2022.

Before joining the ISSB, he served as deputy dean and professor of accounting at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, UK. In this capacity, he led Oxford Saïd’s sustainable business initiatives.

Richard has published a wide range of academic research papers on accounting and sustainability disclosures. He has chaired the expert panel of Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) and served as a member of several committees and bodies focused on corporate reporting in the UK and Europe, including the UK Corporate Reporting Council (UK accounting standard-setter), the Financial Reporting Advisory Board and the European Accounting Association’s Accounting Standards Committee. 

Professor Barker served as a research fellow at the International Accounting Standards Board from 2001 to 2007. He has a Bachelor’s degree in history and economics from University of Oxford and a PhD from University of Cambridge, UK.


Mehdi El Alami

Mehdi El Alami is a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Transportation Practice in Paris. He has over two decades of experience in management consulting. His field of expertise comprises all types of freight transportation (overseas, express, postal, courier, groupage), contract logistics, and supply chain strategy and operations with a focus on retail, including e-commerce and out-of-home distribution. Mehdi helps logistics operators unlock their growth by exploring new businesses and squeezing the most out of the technology at hand. Retailers benefit from his advice on building their supply chain roadmap to stand out in the market and drive revenue up. Mehdi also supports private equity investors and infrastructure funds in their investments decisions. Mehdi graduated from French Business School HEC, Paris.

 

 


Ben Lechner

Ben Lechner holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering. Ben Lechner began his career at DHL Consulting, where he drove turnaround and transformational projects across Deutsche Post DHL and its customers. In 2013, Ben became VP Global Operations Excellence for DHL Supply Chain, reporting into the global COO and later on global CEO. In this capacity, Ben drove large-scale standardisation and improvement programmes across DHL Supply Chain, in the areas of lean, continuous improvement, project management, operational startups/launches, quality assurance, business intelligence and sustainability.

In 2016, Ben assumed responsibility for the technology and telecommunications business unit of DHL Supply Chain in Germany, Switzerland and Austria as Managing Director. He partnered with industry leading customers such as Deutsche Telekom, Huawei and Nokia and served them with innovative supply chain solutions.

In 2018, Ben joined Amazon as Transportation Operations Lead for MEU. At the end of 2020, Ben took over the strategic EU Supply Chain and Procurement function. In 2022, Ben assumed responsibility as Director EU Transportation – managing the operational and commercial transportation network of Amazon across 26 countries and millions of customers in Europe.


Andrea Dorothea Schoen

Andrea Dorothea Schoen holds a degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Political Science. As Programme Director at Smart Freight Centre, she fronts the Air Transport programme, while supporting the roll-out of the GLEC Framework v.3 accounting guidelines.

Andrea also headed the climate protection programme at DB Schenker for 15 years. In this capacity, she acted as project partner and Advisory Body member in various EU projects on the green transformation of the transport sector. She was active in CCWG (Clean Cargo Working Group), SAFA (Sustainable Air Freight Alliance), GLEC (Global Logistics Emissions Council), DIN, CEN and ISO standardisation bodies. 

Currently, Andrea has been working closely with carriers and shippers to support them in their climate emission reduction targets and measures.

 


 

Mark Harrison

Moderator

Mark Harrison joined IPC in 2002 and was the Head of Markets.

Mark was responsible for launching the IPC Sustainability programme for its members to measure the global postal sector’s carbon management proficiency, carbon performance indicators and emissions. This programme is now called the Sustainability Measurement and Management System (SMMS). Since 2008, the group’s cumulative reduction in emissions now equals 25.7 million tonnes CO2

Mark has moderated the IPC Annual Conferences since 2017 and since retiring from IPC lives in the Hérault Region in the South of France. 

Prior to IPC, Mark worked for Royal Mail in London for 14 years and has a degree in Chemistry from the City, University of London, and an MBA from the University of Westminster.
