The 2017 edition of the International Post Corporation Annual Conference saw 26 CEOs and senior executives from 30 leading postal operators from America, Asia Pacific and Europe gathering at the Rode Hoed conference centre in Amsterdam.
The IPC Annual Conference 2017 explored the options posts have to cost-effectively deliver light-weight, low-value packets which account for the majority of the cross-border e-commerce market.
Michael R. Indresano, VP, Amazon Transportation Services, Worldwide Operations, and Ricky Xue, Senior Director of Cross- Border, Cainiano Network, Alibaba Group shared their views on e-commerce trends and challenges and how posts can respond to their customers’ needs.
The debate focused on the way postal networks can be re-engineered to deliver the exponential growth of low-value packets from Asia, and explored whether posts are ready to handle the corresponding growth in traffic to and from Asia.
It also addressed questions on the way posts can respond to increased consumer demand for convenience and mobility, and on the way posts can meet consumer and e-retailer demands for low-cost, reliable and visible delivery of parcels.
In support of the conference, delegates were able to visit a small exhibition area highlighting IPC solutions for cross-border e-commerce.
