To ensure the interoperability between different (postal) operators IPC has developed RFID encoding standards for single piece (based on UPU S10 standard) and receptacle (based on UPU S9 standard) tracking.
The postal identification based on universal identifier encoding standard has been published with the purpose to provide a generic open framework for postal business. Through the use of subclasses, the standard can be used for a wide range of applications like tracking, inventory, monitoring or other use cases in a domestic, multilateral or international context.
For asset tracking and quality of service purposes IPC has also developed a standard for tag encoding.
